How will you show up for water?
Recently I’ve been reflecting on something that feels more important than ever:
The power of coming together.
We’ve seen it through the #WorldWaterRelay, where thousands of you joined forces across time zones and continents. We saw it in Queensland, where neighbours braved floodwaters to help each other out. And we’re seeing it globally, in growing calls for businesses and governments to step up and protect our water.
These moments remind us that change is never a solo effort. It happens when we stand together, lift each other up and keep moving forward as one.
So here’s my challenge to you: pick one way to show up this month. Whether it’s organising a water run, starting a conversation with friends, or joining a river cleanup, every step we take brings us closer to a future where water is protected and plentiful for everyone.
Keep reading to discover the people, stories and moments that bring this spirit to life, and to catch a glimpse of what’s possible when we act together.
Top Moments and Takeaways
Future Water Agenda Report
WWF and GlobeScan released a powerful new report, based on insights from over 30,000 people across 31 countries and 350+ experts.
The message is clear: people care deeply about water, and they expect companies and governments to step up and do more.
I joined Alexis Morgan from WWF, Jason Walters from GlobeScan, and Saqib Sohail from Artistic Milliners for the official launch. We unpacked what these findings really mean for the way businesses show up, make decisions, and work with communities on the ground.
One of the biggest takeaways? When we speak up together, our voices have power. The data shows that what people want outside the boardroom often isn’t what’s being heard inside. That’s why it’s so important to share the real stories from our communities and from the frontlines of the global water crisis.
That’s what our #RunBlue community is doing. And together, we’re showing what collective action really looks like.
Earth Day 2025
As we celebrated Earth Day on April 22, I reflected on how water runs through everything we do, from the food we eat to the clothes we wear and the energy we rely on. But too often, it's overlooked – until it disappears.
That’s why I loved seeing students in Australia, runners in Manila, and communities in Colorado use Earth Day to spotlight water – not just in words, but through action.
This growing collective power gives me hope. Because water doesn’t just connect ecosystems. It connects all of us.
Queensland Floods
Three years ago, I ran through Birdsville during #RunBlue. The roads were dry and dusty, the air hot. The region hadn’t seen rain in a long time.
A few weeks ago, those same roads were under water. Days of intense rainfall cut off towns, closed roads, and left communities isolated.
The news reports focused on the damage. But what stayed with me was the way people showed up for each other. No fuss, no fanfare, just people stepping in to help.
We shouldn’t have to wait for disaster to come together. We have the chance – and the responsibility – to step up for each other now, long before crisis hits.
That’s how we tackle the water crisis: together
Who inspired me this Month
Our Run Leaders.
Yes – all of you.
You rallied your teams, brought communities together and kept the momentum going. You encouraged, led, and cheered your groups on through every mile. Your energy powered this global relay and reminded us what’s possible when we act as one.
Thank you for being part of this community and for making it stronger every day
Photo of the Month
Throwback to running with the awesome Tuesday Trails team during #RunBlue in 2022. When I broke my leg in Cape Town during #RunningDry, this community stepped up and ran in my place. That spirit is what fuels our global movement today.
Community isn’t just something we talk about, it’s what carries us forward. Through floods and milestones, Earth Day reflections and everyday actions, this month has shown the power of working together and showing up for each other.
Every step, every share, every conversation helps build the momentum we need to change the world. And the best part? We’re just getting started.
Love,
Mina
